Home EV Charger Installation Cost in Perth (2026)

Updated 2026-06-05

Installing a home EV charger in Perth generally costs between $1,200 and $3,500 supply-and-install, with the labour portion usually $700–$1,500. The final figure depends on the charger you choose, how far it sits from your switchboard, and whether your board needs work before the new circuit goes in.

What affects the price

  • The charger: a 7kW single-phase unit is the common home choice; 22kW needs three-phase power.
  • Cable run: the distance and route from your switchboard to the charging point.
  • Switchboard capacity: if your board is full or outdated, it may need upgrading first.
  • Three-phase: if you want fast charging and only have single-phase, upgrading is a separate job.

Why we do a load assessment first

An EV charger is a big, sustained load. Plugging one into a tired switchboard without checking capacity is how you get nuisance tripping, or worse. We assess your switchboard and load before quoting, then install a dedicated, compliant circuit built for the charger, wired to AS/NZS 3000.

Can’t I just use a normal power point?

You can trickle-charge from a standard 10A power point in a pinch, but it’s slow and the outlet isn’t designed for hours of continuous high load. A dedicated EV circuit is faster, safer and the right long-term setup.

Will my switchboard handle it?

Sometimes yes, sometimes it needs an upgrade first, which is exactly what the load assessment tells us. If an upgrade is needed, we’ll price it separately and clearly. Request a callback and we’ll work out what your home needs.
